MR Angiography at Open MRI & Diagnostic Imaging of Wall
An MR Angiography is a minimally invasive medical test used to diagnose and treat medical conditions and examine blood vessels in the kidney, brain, pelvis, legs, lungs, heart, and neck, and in some cases, a contrast material to produce pictures of major blood vessels throughout the body. Our radiology practice performs this procedure in a warm, relaxing environment.
The test is used to identify disease and aneurysms in the aorta or in other major blood vessels, detect atherosclerosis disease in the carotid artery of the neck, which may limit blood flow to the brain and cause a stroke, identify a small aneurysm or arteriovenous malformation inside the brain, or identify atherosclerotic disease that has narrowed the arteries to the legs and help prepare for surgery. It can also be used to detect disease in the renal artery or visualize blood flow to help prepare for a kidney transplant, direct surgeons making repairs to diseased blood vessels, detect injury to one of more arteries in trauma patients, evaluate arteries feeding a tumor, determine dissections in the aorta, or show the extent of atherosclerosis in the coronary arteries. This procedure is commonly utilized to screen people for arterial disease or as part of the planning for surgical operations, such as a coronary bypass.
